I would suggest basic.
 
 
Applesoft Basic is built into all apple II's and there are plenty of
old books out there.
 
You should be able to find books in libraries, or used.

I started basic programming in high school, but that's because there wern't
any computers available when I was younger. I'm sure I could have handled most
of
it in 6th grade or so.
