All Apple // users complain about PC systems being obsolete in 6 months
then you have to upgrade.. but lets think about this for a moment.. at
least they ARE upgradeable... can you change the video on a //gs? Yeah,
with 1 card out on the market doesn't work well.. can you add more than 8
megs on a GS? No.. can you add better sound than whats included? You can
add stereo and recording but you surely can't add another sound chip.. Can
you add pipeline cache (Or ANY hardware cache for that matter) to the //gs
motherboard? Nope.. Is a 1.2 gig hard drive practical for a //gs? Nope..
Unless you like 35 - 32meg partitions.. (Yea you can make GSOS partitions
larger but who needs that much space for GSOS based appz?) Is a CD ROM
practical for a GS user? Nope.. The fact is the reason the //gs runs all
the software written for it without any hardware upgrades are because it
CAN'T be upgraded.. If GS's could easily add VGA cards, sound cards, gig
hard drives, cache, new processors, etc, programs WOULD require the latest
GS's.. but the GS CAN'T be upgraded so programmers CANT write programs
which advance beyond its hardware limits..  Tell me you wouldnt like to
run a 1024x768 flight simulator on a //gs with 256 colors and 3d texture
mapped graphics at  20 fps.. its great.. heck, my Pentium motherboard can
take a 75mhz to 200mhz Pentium which with nothing more than a jumper
setting! It has flash rom so any bug fixes which are needed can be done
via software.. it has IDE/Printer/Serial/Floppy controllers all on the
motherboard.. if a faster pentium chip comes out I just download new
SOFTWARE to update the BIOS to support it.. tell me all GS users out there
wouldn't KILL for that..  If a GS could be upgraded to anything decent
trust me programs would NOT be able to run on a stock GS.. heck, most new
programs for the GS run on 4 megs and need at least a ZIP attached to it..
how is that any different? The only reason GS programs don't require 20mhz
and 16 megs is because the GS can't be upgraded that high.. it has 
basically reached its limit.. so I don't see how ripping on PC's because
they are upgradeable makes any sense.. because PC motherboard makers have
the vision to make their boards upgradable.. it seems to me that GS users
are just upset because their systems can't be upgradeable like PC's..
heck, the new Wolfenstein 3d for the GS is said to require a ZIP anyways
to make it run anywhere decent.. How is that different than the latest PC
games requiring the latest processors?! Its not.. you people are just
being hypocrits.. Why don't GS games take up 50 megs? Because nobody owns
a hardrive because they are so expensive to set up on a //gs.. I just
picked up a 1.2gig hard drive for my PC, didn't need a controller or
anything.. just plugged it into the motherboard.. a motherboard which
costs close to a SCSI card does for a //gs.. Why do PC users want 16 bit
wavetable sound cards? BECAUSE THEY CAN! Why do they want video cards
which have 8 megs of ram? BECAUSE THEY CAN, why do they want 32 megs of
ram, BECAUSE THEY CAN!!! Why are GS users so against PC's? BECAUSE THEY
CAN'T!
