I too am surprised that they are having problems with the SS card.  I
have one of the original boards (since my serial number is in the 1500's,
it must be the second set of cards made, but it still had the origianal
chips).  I just upgraded to the most recent chips last night.  Everything
works fine in my heavily populated ROM 01 GS.  I am using an Innerdrive
power supply to power my GS and seven cards.
