CMS Help
I need some help. I went home for Christmas and complete some upgrades
for the family. I had 2 CMS hard drives and planned to move a few things
around on 2 different GSs (ROM 1). Well one had an Apple SCSI and the
other has an Apple HS SCSI. To make a long story short I put one CMS on
the 1st GS with the CMS SCSI and all is well. The second GS with the
Apple HS SCSI will not work properly with the 81 MEG CMS. I have a
complete backup and reformatted it using the HS SCSI and all but I didn't
pay atention to the dip settings on the back or the strange cable on the
inside which reminds me of some type of jumper. I do not have the manuals
with me so I cannot fix it. It will run but programs lock up or the drive
crashes into monitor. I am assuming the drive has a termination problem.
Before one of the GSs left with its owner if I set the working HD at the
end of the scsi chain this drive worked fine. So I am assuming its a term
problem. I tried to set the drive dip settings the same but that does not
work. I popped them both open and one is a QUANTUM ProDRIVE ELS (this is
the problem one) and the other is a SEGATE. The wiring is a bit different
in both as well. I tried to use this drive with the HS card and the
Original Apple SCSI with no luck. It gives me all kinds of reasons from
Apple 3.5 must be installed to Must have the SCSI driver, to FST errors,
etc. All are on the HD but it still will not work. ( H E L P )
I thought of going out and getting a term plug but these drives only have
25 pin scsi ports. If anyone can help me, please do (email too). I have
checked the drive and found no errors so I think its just the
settings/termination. (insert prayer here). :)
I need the dip settings too!
