   This looks like a power (and, probably, a noise) problem. Cutting to
the chase: replace your +5, +12, and Ground power supply leads with #14
stranded wire leads. Remove the motherboard. On the bottom, run #18 wires
from the power socket +5V point to the +5V point on your Zip-GS Slot and
the +5V point on Slot 7. I also added bypass caps-- compact .45uF/16V caps
at the +5V Slot points to Ground. You may want to run an extra +12V lead
to Slot 7's +12V point.

   Basically, the idea is to maintain correct voltage levels and cut
'backplane' noise.
