Re: Favorite WP/printer combo? Inkjet or laser?

Well, the cheapest way might be to send me your files to output,
as I just started a VSB (virtual service bureau) especially for
Apple II users. The complete details are in the latest issue of
GEnieLamp A2 (available online in several places including
grind and genie's Web site).
That said, if you have a lot to do, such that it would be
reasonable to purchase your own equipment, then you need at least an
inkjet (an HP DeskJet 540 would be a good buy, or a 560 if you want
color capability) with either Harmonie (supports color) from Vitesse or
Independence (supports greyscale) from Seven Hills for drivers. You
could of course, also pick up a LaserJet or LaserWriter for a few extra
bucks which would be even better, but if you want color, there is none.
(I have a complete article on printers in vol. 1 no 4 of The Apple
Blossom, http://members.aol.com/newblossom/TAB4.html).
For software, the best if you have to do layout is GraphicWriter III
(do you have a GS or a IIe). If you have a IIe, then you would want
to get PublishIt, which is only available used. If you just need word
processing, then get AppleWorks GS, which Alltech did have on sale
(disks only) for under $20.00.
