Currently there are 2 programs that will view JPEG images on the GS:
SecondView Pro - commercial program ($29.95 ?) from Sequential Systems:
needs a SecondSight video board.
JPEGView Prerelease - A simple viewer that will let you see grayscale
images on the SHR screen. Scrolling isn't too convenient, but
it's free. Should be on the ftp sites.
The ORCA/GNO shell utilities are ported versions of the IJG (Independent
JPEG Group) code. They will convert JPEG images into a number of other
image formats - most notably GIFs, which can be viewed with a number
of GIF viewers. The IJG programs will also convert images into the JPEG
format from GIF, PBM, BMP, etc. There are (I believe) 2 versions around:
one is version 4 of the IJG code, and the other is version 6. The version
4 port always produces bluescale images (I have heard rumors of a version
4 somewhere that works, but I've never found it). Version 6 produces
full color images.
Hope this helps,
