Problem with putting GS/OS on my ProDos 16 HD - - - - -

Okay, I have that HD you've all heard me griping about (20 meg external everex).
I have a really good ProDos 16 finder and really like the desktop (with
calculator, scrapbook, et al), but there are too many pluses to GS/Os to not
have it (HFS, Harmony and Pointless compatibility).
 
However, GS/OS won't recognize the HD (Apple rev. C SCSI card in slot 7) and I
am unable to format something GS/OS cannot "see." Someone suggested a low end
and high end format (the previous owner of the HD has GS/OS on it, but, having
used it on a IIe for
 a bit, I formatted over it). I don't think I have any software that is not
GS/OS that can do a high/low end format---if that is the problem.
