Re: transfer data from Apple IIC to PC (IBM)

The Package Cross-Works will automate the process for you. It consists
of Apple // (Prodos) disk and a MSDOS disk plus a serial to serial cable
with a jillion different types of connectors at each end. The software
uses an "Appleworks" type filecard interface and contains file
conversion utilities which will let you change Appleworks files to work
pretty well in a variety of popular PC programs. The system also works
well for text files and will add or subtract linefeeds depending on
which direction you transfer. The program is published by SoftSpoken,
Inc. Their phone is 800/759-4549. I use this program a lot as we're in
the process of moving a lot of stuff from the Apple //e machines we're
finally obsoleting in our office. I use a //c as the "sending" apple,
because of its built in serial interface. One tip, the MSDOS end of
this program does not seem to like TSR programs running on the PC and
crashes (mentioned in the manual too), so start your PC without them
when using it.
