Problems with my Epic 2400 Baud modem..

I've got an Epic 2400 baud Classic Modem in my IIe.  Recently, my
university changed it's modem pool and since then, I have been 
unable to connect at 2400 baud, only 1200.  When I try to connect at
2400, I just get that terrible squaking noise, until the connect time
runs out....any suggestions?
