Apple //e question

I am working on a //e which has a dual 5" disk drive unit and a single
3" disk unit.  The dual 5" disk unit has a DB-25 connector on it
and the computer also has a DB-25 connector on it.  Will a printer
cable work to hook these together?  I tried one and the disk unit
never operates.  Upon power-up, I get only "Apple //e" at the top
of the screen.  The single 3" disk unit is connected to the computer
but it never operates either.
