I know of at least 5-8 that own and use GSs on a regular basis, many
more who used to own GSs.

Hell yes. We've had a whole bunch of GS related questions this past
week; all you have to do is find a time when people are around (in the
middle of the night, everyone's just lurking. Ditto for early morning,
etc), and ask. If you just lurk, you really can't get any clue as to
what's really going on.

A lot of us own and/or use on a daily basis non-GS computers. Thus,
there can be non-GS questions. Unix is probably the most popular
computer topic to ask about, but life in general is probably the
general topic. (Hell, the OJ trial occupied a while this week.) There
are a bunch of PC types from winternet.com, but if they get annoying
to the GS folks, we can kick them.

As to the whole warez things, I think you've got it dead wrong. If
you come in with an attitude and want copyrighted and published GS
software, that's one of the faster ways to get kicked off the channel.
90% of us have good reasons for our kicks (unless it's friends and a
once a month kick war for fun); if you've got gripes with people, name
names, and talk to the rest of us. Having a bad attitude in general
doesn't help; coming in and flooding "CAN YOU LOSERS HELP ME!?!?" 5
times a minute won't help either. Asking a polite question about the
GS (asking permission is useless; just go ahead and ask)

>So far, I have yet to see a GS-related conversation occur. Is there
>a channel where the real GS people hang out, or is this it?

All the GS regulars on the channel have a clue, ranging from fairly
competent to some good programmers. There isn't much that's new to
talk about, unless someone new asks a question. Griping about Apple
Computer Co, random technical questions (which you want us to answer),
and other stuff can only last so long before we get bored and move to
other stuff. I've been hanging out on #appleiigs for two and a half
years now, and I don't have anything new (GS related) to talk about
with the regulars 99% of the time.

If you've got problems with the folks, please note who you have the
problem, and examine your own attitude. The problem could lie with
either; only by rational discourse on irc or here could things be
resolved.
