No-Slot Clock in Apple ][+?

Has anyone successfully installed the No-Slot Clock
(aka Dallas Semiconductor DS1216E) in an Apple ][+?
Can it be done at all?

I suppose I could make a short extension cable to
re-locate one of the Apple ][+ ROMs, but which ROM
should I move?  (I know how to deal with the 28-pin
device in 24-pin socket problem.)
