Applesoft is Apple's version of Microsoft BASIC, provided in ROM in all
Apple ][ computers except the original Apple ][ (which had Integer BASIC
instead). Applesoft is compatible with three of Apple's four 8-bit
operating systems, DOS 3.2, DOS 3.3, and ProDOS-8. It is notompatible
with the Pascal Operating System or with GS/OS-16.
Applesoft is an interpreted BASIC, using a memory resident tokenized
program. In spite of the fact that the B in BASIC stands for
"Beginner's", Applesoft is actually quite powerful.
