My system uses the tin news reader.  Press ctrl-K when you have a post
you don't want.  You have the option of basing the filter on the exact
contents of the Subject line, the From line or both.  You can also enter
your own.  The filter can be applied to the newsgroup you're in or to all
newsgroups.
