I've found the Apple Rev C SCSI and the Apple 20SC HD will
not be recognized _at all_ under System 6.0 and 6.0.1. The solution
was to replace the System 6 SCSI driver files ('SCSI.Manager' and
'SCSIHD.DRIVER') with the System 5.0.4 versions of the same files.
I would suggest making a backup copy of the System 6 'Installer' disk,
and then replace the files mentioned above (found in /System/Drivers)
with the files found on the 'System Tools' disk from System 5.0.4,
then use that to install System 6. It will then "see" your hardrive.

Although this worked for me, it's generally not a good idea to
mix different pieces of old and new System Software. I made an expection
in this situtation however, since the only other alternative was to use
System 5 on hardrive instead. My final solution was to sell that setup
and replace with it a 1MB RamFAST SCSI Rev D, connected to a Quantum
730MB SCSI-2 drive...quite a contrast! ;-)
