I feel your pain.

My Apple clone (I can't think of which right now) with the numeric keypad
with macro functions has eaten enough hardware to make a grown man cry.

Its keyboard controller died, and it ate a lot of RAM. Too much. I now
have a couple of Apple ][ boards I can't boot :(
What was wrong? a transient fault in the power supply. *sigh*.

I have also got a damaged Disk ][ controller card (The FET or whatever it
is has a damaged leg), my wonderful floppy controller which can read 15
and 16 sector disks has a damaged IC (I believe it is an open collector
hex inverter. I bought the replacement and have no idea where it is any
more).
One of my Z80 soft cards died and damn near took my //e platinum with it.
It took the power supply. Sometimes my //e feels a little "off" since
then but it's generally good.

There's probably more. There are stories behind all these. Shameful,
shameful stories.

Tristan.
