I believe the DeskWriters are serial only, and use the Mini-DIN serial 
connector used on the Apple IIgs and later Mac models.  If you're 
planning to use it under GS/OS on an Apple IIgs, you will need 
third-party drivers (I believe the two available are Harmonie from 
Vitesse and Independence from Seven Hills software).

I believe that DeskWriters do not have built in fonts, so 8-bit programs
such as AppleWorks will not work. I could be mistaken, as I haven't been
following these threads lately, and an 8-bit solution may have appeared,
but I don't think it has.
