need help with weird cable

 I picked up a ODD cable (adapter) at the Swap Meet.
 It consists of a gray plastic block with three DB connectors mounted on
it,
 { DB-19 (M), DB-19 (F), DB-9 (F) }
 and a nine inch cable ending with a mini-din-8(M) connector.
 The only markings are PA02 (on the front), and Thunderware-Inc (on the
back).

 It looks like below:

         DB-9(F)
         PA02   ---------> mini-din-8(M)
         DB-19(F)

        front view

     mini-din-8(M) <--------

                            Thunderware-Inc
                            DB-19(M)

                            rear view

 It seems like it might connect to the drive port on a Apple IIc, IIc+,
IIgs
 or a Macintosh, but I can't figure out WHY.
 Can anyone help me figure out this puzzle?
 Thanks
