Re: Who's Dr. Tom?

Concerning your request - Sorry, I don't have the time right now (today)
to post a detailed reply. Not only do I have the book you mentioned, I've
throughly read it from cover to cover, (I didn't skim read it, as you
did). I also know the author, have received many reprints directly from
him covering, both his research and have discussed my VAMPS and GS music
with him (at length) by tel-con to him at NASA AIMS Research.
Additionally, I have the use of a Convolvatron with a PC, have processed
samples with it, recorded them to audio tape, digitally recording them
with the GS Stereo card/ported them to the GS, for use with the computer.

No, the Ensoniq chip in the GS has no such filters. The samples used in
many of the VAMPS are processed with several other computers, IBM clones,
AMIGA's ATARI ST's, MAC II's, using both; misc. hardware and software,
that can do some amazing things with soundscape design minipulations,
allowing you to save those samples, retain those 3D effects and then port
those samples with those 3D effects, for use within the IIGS. Noise
Tracker GS, PolySons and SoundSmith are the only programs for the IIGS,
that will allow such ported 3D samples, conversions, soundscape designs
and enhancements to be implimented within the IIGS computer.

No the GS can not use the other computers hardware or the software
mentioned, directly. Everybody knows that. I never claimed that to be
the case in any of my releases or documentation.

If you don't have a stereo card and a good high intensity set of high-end,
electrostatic headphones connected to an external stereo system and
specifically an SRS unit of some type, you will never hear anything from
the IIGS, (other than mono output) Anybody should realize that fact. I
certainly do realize it. If you want to hear what I'm claiming with
respect to the VAMPS, NTV, MEgaMOD and EMU releases, you've got to have a
stereo card, a stereo system, an SRS unit and a good high-intensity full
sectrum response set of (over-the-ear) headphones. If you don't have that
equipment for use with your IIGS, then no, you will never hear anything
other than mono, with my VAMP releases or anything else sent out in audio
from the computer.

I beleive the data I need to reference along with the book from Dr.
Begault is buried in my storage closet, under my Mensch Prototype Computer
 development manual's.

I'll dig all the materials and reprints from Dr. Begault out tonight, go
thru them all and then make all the required proper and correct responses,
to your questions tomorrow.

I will post my reply to these issues in great detail, with concise
outlines and answers to all your questions as presented, on 9/7/95.

May God Bless All of You!
Dr. Tom
