SoftPC GS a hoax?

A while back I downloaded a disk image from some obscure GS BBS. It turned out
to be a weird SoftPC for the GS, or at least it looked like it. It said how it
was copyrighted Insignia Solutions, and had a serial number.
 
I can't really get it to do much of anything, but I was wondering if this was a
hoax (probably is.) When I check out the disk in the finder, there are illegal
filenames everywhere. Hmm.
 
Just wondering if anybody knows anything about this.
