IRQs, ][+, //e, and an applesoft question
Is there any difference in IRQ handling between ][+s and //es? I have a
program that uses ~IRQ on an Applecat II modem that ran OK on the +, but
doesn't seem to function on the e. (I don't think it's a hardware problem
with the modem, as it's the same on two different cards. I don't believe
it's software, as I tried two different programs and neither had the
correct function. It COULD be a hardware problem with the device plugged
into the modem, a Novation X-10 transformer. I can't retest it all with a
][+ right now, as hardware problems with it prompted the change to the //e.)
The modem NORs (or NANDs, I forget the symbol) the 120 khz x-10 signal to
the ~IRQ line, hence my question about IRQ handling. I SEEM to remember
something in the past about IRQs, but I forget. :-)
The same program uses a GET to wait for a carriage return from the modem
or a Q from the keyboard to start the routine. I'd like to modify it to
wait for a character from the keyboard or modem, or a switch closure on
a game port button input. I can handle the switch with a PEEK, but I need
a suggestion on how to loop and check for a character input without using
GET.
Thanks,
Chris
