You probably have a very old version, in that case (System 4 or
earlier).  Do you actually have a "Finder" at all?

What does the screen show while the machine is booting?  Do you get a
graphical screen saying "Welcome to the IIgs"?  If so, what colour is
the background?  If it is the same colour as the screen border, then
you have System 4.0.  If it is "periwinkle blue" (the same colour as
the desktop in currnet programs), then you have System 5.0 to 5.0.4.
System 6.0 and later show their version in the progress box.

If you get a text screen that mentions ProDOS-16, then you are running
System 3.2 or earlier.

Get the IIe version of ShrinkIt (just called "ShrinkIt").  It runs
under ProDOS-8, and can decompress 3.5" disk images.  You can use that
to extract System 5.0.4, which can then be used to run ShrinkIt GS.
