By now there have been numerous answers to this question, so I will not
take up space and time quoting all of them. There is another solution
that I did not see mentioned.
A wonderful program, called "MacLink Plus", by DataViz, can translate
between a great many program formats and between several operating systems.
For example, I received a file which was created by WordPerfect on a Mac.
I used MLP to translate the file to a ProDOS disk in AppelWorks WP
format. When I tested the file on my IIe, not only was AppleWorks able to
read the document but page layout (margin changes,spacing changes, etc) info
was preserved.
I have not tried it yet, but I suspect that the program would translate
between a "teach text" file (actually a downloaded Apple II binhex file)
and a ProDOS file.
