As I recall there is a program (written in basic as I recall) called
splitter that will split big text files into small pieces.
I don't have it handy, but it would NOT take much ($) to inspire me to look
around for it.  You might search the net for a place to FTP "splitter".
It is a SLOW program, but HELL, go drink a BIG glass of water and go to the
bathroom, maybe it will be done when you get back.
(486 CPU?   We don't need no stinking 486!     :-)      )
