I believe standard MIDI files don't contain the instruments or wave files
to play music. They contain the notes. They can contain information on
which instruments to use where. I've never seen Sound Studio but maybe
it assigns instruments on it own. I hope someone comes along to correct
any mistakes I have made.
And now for something NOT completely different... Have you used Music
Composer. It can convert standard MIDI files to synthLAB or Music
Composer format. It also has many editing features. It can be found at
my FTP site mentioned in the sig below. You can also get there through
my WWW page.
