I don't remember the package you refer to, but I do know what does work.
Since both appleworks and m/s works were authored by the same person,
they are VERY compatable.  You'll need crossworks to move files from the
apple to the dos machine and back. It does work.
BTW...Appleworks, MS Works for DOS and MS works for MAC are all
compatible for moving from one to the other. (up to versions 3.0 of each
package...haven't tried aw5.0 to ms works yet).
