The following series of emails, are presented to the public, in the hopes that
they may clear up and clarify several misconceptons and a great deal of false/
misinformation presented by so many about myself and the group I co-founded with
Olivier Goguel, 1WSW. If you have anything to say about any of this,
please reply to me personally, not to Mitch.
Thanks!

In article <gbmaidsf-2507951523030001@rock20.calon.com>, you write... AA new WEB
site is now active, for Apple II and IIGS users to review and use.
http://www.wco.com/~3d5d1wsw/
>It's the 1WSW Home Page, with an 'Instant Link' to GRIND. Check it out!
What was all that about leaving the Apple IIgs world and disbanding 1WS1
forever?
I thought you said you were leaving...
Changed your mind?

>YES, (YELLING IN CAPS) I DID CHANGE MY MIND. ACTUALLY, ALL THE REQUEST
FOR ME TO STAY ON IN THE GS WORLD, IS WHAT CHANGED IT!
>SORRY YOU AND THE REST OF IAN'S GROUP DON'T GET THERE WISH JUST YET!
Take off your cap-locks, it's kind of annoying reading messages in ALL-CAPS.
Well...I don't know about the rest of "them", but my wish isn't so much that you
go away, but rather the software you've been releasing. All those 3-D VAMP disks
(which are hoaxes), sector edited copies of Platinum Paint, Diversi-Tune and
whatnot. Your welcome around the IIgs world if you can behave...
>BTW - WOULD YOU PLEASE TELL IAN TO RELEASE MODZAP V1.0 AND SHOCKWAVE V? (OR
WHATEVER HE'S CALLING IT. AND, IF YOU ARE IN TIGHT AND FRIENDS WITH THE
AUTHOR OF BEATBOX, PLEASE TELL HIM MANY, MANY OF MY FRIENDS LOVE IT AND
HOPE HE CONTINUES
WITH THE UPDATES-UPGRADES-ETC.
Believe me, I've been trying for over two years now! Ian seems to have
disappeared, though if I could get in contact with him, I'd like to send him
finished graphics screens so he could finish up MODZap 1.0. We need to
coordinate things so I can complete player graphics, but he's never
around. :/ (MODZap 1.0 doesn't actually exist, he planned to glue the
ShockWave player to MODZap v00.92 and then use my graphics around that. So
in a sense, MODZap 1.0 will be/would have been a disabled demo verison of
ShockWave).
Sometime soon I plan to just complete all the graphics. If Ian can use them,
great, if not...not much I can do.
Mitch ----------------------------------------------------------------->
Dear Mitch:
Caps off. (IMHO), with the fact that I'm disabled with arteritis and arthritis,
it's a lot easier for me to reply to everything with cap-lock on! This self-made
(on-line fantasy of yelling) by having the caps on, is a real chore for me
to deal with. Not to mention being rather painful.
There are several points you should be made aware of, which need to be cleared
up! Please read them carefully and rest assured they are 100% true and directly
from the horses mouth! (not the horses ass!)
I had nothing to do with making any of the (hacked-sector-edited) programs;
Platinum Paint (aka - Omnipaint), DiversiTune, or any of the other stuff,
with my name on it, available on the Internet. I never uploaded them.
They were stolen, altered and uploaded to 'The Net'. It's as simple as
that!
(Everything that I've every released or uploaded myself, is in the GRIND/1WSW
folder), anything else out there, is BUGUS, and not from me!
I reported the matters to; the local police in Brisbane, the FBI and the
Director of the Internet Society. I even have a tape recording, from a
call that I made to the individual responsible, with him admitting to
everything, which is retained by my attorney, to this day!
I know who did the hacks, why he did it all and who uploaded them for him. You
wouldn't beleive me, if I told you who it was. So, I won't bother informing you,
by furnishing you with their names directly!
All I can say about all of that is, I've had an on-going war with him,
ever since I called him to tell him about my co-founding 1WSW with Olivier
Goguel, and Olivier giving me the rights and src. codes, (exclusively) to
continue with
upgrades and/or rewrites for; Noise Tracker GS, Fontrix GS, Photonix II, SSS
Sound Editor, etc.
Why? Because, I wouldn't furnish him with any copies of the src. codes to NTGS,
Fontrix GS or SSS Sound Editor, (for him to make a profit with his ShareWare
ventures and sales efforts), and as he was not able to make any profits from
Noise Tracker, Fontrix GS or SSS Sound Editor, he told me I was f+*king with the
wrong person, when I f+*ked with him.
He also told me he would personally see to it, that I would never have any
credibility in the A2 world, stole, hacked and proceeded to upload these
programs, (including the Spectrum beta - with my name "Dr. Tom") to the
Internet. (I have a telephone recording of that conversation with him & I
also have retained a copy of it with my attorney)
I've never been able to forgive him for any of these gross, vengeful and hateful
efforts. He posted to Usenet, that NT was public domain, furnish a (misnomer)
letter to that effect from Olivier to him, to prove it, hooked me up with Ken
Mach, arranged to convience me to furnish the src. codes to Ken (who I still
value highly - as a wonderful person and a good friend).
I told Ken to make the src. codes of NT v1.0 available to anybody, with the
talents, motivation and desire to join the 1WSW group, help with updates
and/or a rewrite of the program.
The individual, then proceeded to contact Ian Schmidt, (who, I don't trust any
futher than I can throw him), made Ian aware of the location of the src. codes
for NT v1.0, Ian contacted Ken, convienced Ken to give them to him and got a
copy. Ian proceeded to do a very poor (unauthorized) by either Olivier
Goguel or myself, patch to the programn (NTGS v1.1), with many mistakes,
deletions and
such, without mine or Oliviers knowledge, doing all of this within a 24 hour
period of time, then released it (with his copyright to Two Meg & himself), to
the Internet, without anybody's knowledge, consent or premission.
Regardless of what was posted by anybody, at that point, or during any time,
prior to my releasing it as public domain, Noise Tracker v1.0, WAS NOT in the
public domain. It was a copyrighted FREEWARE by Olivier Goguel, given to me with
the src. codes, exclusively to coordinate upgrades and/or rewrites of the
program, as I saw fit! Olivier Goguel is available by phone or surface
mail, if anybody cares to varify that fact! His phone number and mail
address are available in the GRIND/1WSW folder, in the listing (95)
undated text file of the
1WSW group!
I wrote a letter of invitation to Ian Schmidt, in 1993 - a year before he
did this with NTGS v1.1, asking him to join or work with the 1WSW group to
help with an update and/or rewrite to NT, FXGS and SSS Sound Editor,
telling him I had the src. codes and would be glad to furnish them all to
him, if he was interested in such efforts. (He received the letter - but,
never bothered to reply to my invitation or offer.)
I've talked to Ian by phone, at length dozens of times, discussing all of the
past events, in detail. His reply, was simply, that he didn't reply because he
didn't beleive me and didn't have the time or desire to do such! Yet, as
soon as he got his hands on the NT src. code from Ken's (MACH III) BBS, he
did his '24 hour' job on the program: releasing it as you see today:
v1.1. (I even have the src. codes to NTGS v1.1) furnished to me (by U.S.
mail) on disk, via Ken, from Ian, with his knowledge and premission, no
less).
With respect to Ian's present location and activities; He's working under a job
contract, in a cubicle, in an office, in Orlando, Fla. for Jason Anderson (Joe
Hack) and his partner John; with Richard Wif(???)el, (another person I dislike
intensely), and Dave Swanson, my partner and programmer for NTGS v2.0 (one
of my dearest and best friends for life).
They are all working side-by-side; programming for Super Nentindo, 3DO, Genisis,
etc. I promissed Dave, in our last telephone conversation, that I wouldn't
disclose the; name, address or tel. # of their employment location, so, if you
want to contact Ian, you'll have to use email, via WintetNet, like
everybody else does! But, don't expect to get a reply!
All this information is (generally) available to the public from me, in text
files, posted to the 1WSW forus/topic area on Genie) and it's also given in much
greater detail, with names, dates and all the facts, in text files, archived on
GRIND (in the 1WSW folder). You should check all of them out for more
information, details and facts.
Better yet, why not just give me a voice call @ (415) 468-1609), anytime, at my
expense (call collect please) and I'll tell you all the true facts about
everything, in vivid detail, with evidence and phone numbers of others you can
call to back up my story.
I'll also be happy to answer any questions you might care to ask me
directly, about anything! There's a lot more you need to know, and I'll
be happy to enlighten you about a lot of things and a lot of people,
should you care to here it.
I'll simply say the following, concerning my VAMPS/NTV/MegaMOD/OmniTracker
releases. (you are entitled to your own feelings about them - certainly), as is
everybody. BTW - the dictionary definition of the word hoax is: a trick or
fraud, esp. one meant as a practical joke. None of them were released as
a hoax.
I have ample amounts of professional and trained individuals in the audio field,
that will verify that every word written about them in each releases
documentation file, is accurate true and correct. I've always released all of
them, as real, sincere 3-D and 4-D enhancements/remastered music from others.
I've been a sound, acoustics engineer and research scientist, for over 25 years
time now. I've worked with some of the greatest audio minds, artist and music
preformers of the time also. I know many of them well, and they are my friends.
Professors, medical doctors, government audio scientist and researchers, plus
recording legends and artists, concert promoters, etc., are some of the
many, that know of my VAMPS/NTV releases. None of them consider them to be
hoax's of any type or any manner!
They have listened to them all (per my written & documented instructions) all
concluded that everything I said within the documentations are accurate
and true, in their professional opinions, with respect to the music,
special effects, etc.
As you'll note from my releases; I favor and respect the abilities of Noise
Tracker GS over MIDI, by 50 to 1, if not more! I'm proud of what I've been able
to do with NTGS music, the coordination of the upgrades with it from v1.2 thru
2.0. and every VAMPS/NTV/MegaMOD, Noise Tracker GS and OmniTracker
release. I've never released anything as a hoax!
You really should take at least a day, and devote it to carefully reading,
everything I've released, (in text), concerning everything available within the
1WSW folder on GRIND and within the Genie, 1WSW topic/forum folder, (assuming
that the Genie staff still makes it available to the public)! You could learn a
great deal, that you don't currently know!
I've received many praises, many (unsolisited) donations, with the FreeWares and
my fair share of ShareWare fees also, when I was first releasing them as
SHAREWARES.
Hell, Ian Schmidt (himself), even said he thought they were very good, to me in
one of my many telephone conversations to him about them and his past verbose
comments he made on Usenet, and in his public documentations with MODZap,
concerning me, VAMPS music and the 1WSW group. BTW, I have a tape
recording of that conversation with Ian Schmidt also. Ian has a split
personality. Anybody that knows him very well knows that. He's one person
on-line and an entirely
different person in-person or on the telephone by voice.
I had a long personal discussion with his mom, (whom I'm friends with also) by
phone, to discuss his personality and professional problems. We both concluded
that he has a lot of adjustments and reality checks to deal with before he's a
stable, well-adjusted and responsible adult! I'd be shocked with a
massive wave, if he ever did decide to release ShockWave. He labels
himself as "The
self-proclaimed GS Sound pimp" now, in his last Usenet public posting.
ShockWave...I've seen the beta of it, and it looks almost identical to
NTGS v2.0, in many respect. (no, I don't have a copy of it) It's a very
versatile and
promissing program. It could indeed be the 'Holy Grail Music Program' of
the GS,if he would only get it finished and released. I've also seen the
beta of ModZap v1.0, minus your graphics, and it also has fantastic
potentials.
So, does BeatBox, for that matter. It's huge, doesn't work very stable (if
at all on a ROM 03), but, HEY, problems can be worked out. I really hope
the authors do more with it. If not, then they should, certainly release
the src. codes with it to PD, so somebody else can continue with it!
I don't hate Ian Schmidt. I pity him, for his personality conflicts and other
problems. I respect him for (most - but not all) of his programming and coding
efforts for this computer. But, I want to have nothing more to do with
him, as a result of the pain, humiliation and adjatation he's put me thru,
with everything he's said and done, against me, with his verbose past
postings about both me and the 1WSW group.
Concerning NTGS v1.3 thru (v2.0 - which, I'm sure you must realize is a complete
rewrite and now, the only MODfile editor, available for use with the
IIGS), buggy and unstable, as it is, at this point in time, I wish I'd
never co-founded 1WSW with Olivier, and I wish I'd never had the src.
codes to NT v1.0. But, I did!
The program was as updated and/or rewritten as it could be, with both mine,
Oliviers and Dave's full; consent, guidence, design, assistance and knowledge.
Neither Olivier, Dave or I have made any money from Noise Tracker. We never
wanted to. It's always been a FREEWARE! It's now (of course) public domain.
Dave Swanson did all he possible could, spending over 800 hours of his time,
money and efforts with the program. I've personally invested over $18,000 and
well over 2000 man-hours (to-date) into the program. Nothing more could be done
with it, beyond the v2.0 release, buggy and unstable, as it may be.
I coordinated the updates/rewrites and designed the program as a
(user-friendly), GS/OS; multi-platform & multi-computer,
cut/paste/find/replace, NT,SS and ProTracker MODfile (4-track)
editor/converter and as an expressive music sequencer, audio transmuter,
sample conversion and save combination - program. Dave programmed it, per
my direct instructions and design.
IMHO, he did a fantastic job, with what he had to work with. He will always have
my up most respect and admiration for his skills and efforts. He's a
wonderful person, that deserves all the good things life can offer him.
BTW - many others were involved with the final coding for the NTGS v2.0 release,
besides Dave Swanson. I promissed them not to reveal their names. So, I can't.
They all gave it to me (lock-stock & barrel), with no restrictions, to do
whatever I wantd with it! I decided to release it into public domain,
with all beta's and the src. codes, so that hopefully somebody, with the
time, motivation and devotion to the GS, could continue with it, improve
and upgrade it. To date, nobody has done anything with it, that I'm aware
of!
Olivier Goguel, Dave Swanson, Tim Meekins and Tony Morales, are IIGS SAINTS, -
IMHO. They are all dearly respected friends of mine for LIFE!
Anyway, I'm really in to much pain (in my hands) & (in my heart/emotions) to
continue with any more of this. There is an awful lot more, you need to know
about everything, that you've been told about me by many others. Please
be kind enough to give me a call (collect) and I'll tell you everything
(in total truthfulness), concerning everything!
In closing, let me point out clearly: I'm not doing anything for this computer
for; profit, fame or glory. I've got all the money I need! I don't like
fame or glory. True I do have an 'Ego', but doesn't everybody? At least
mine is not as big as Ian's was (or most-likely, still is).
Remember the program 'Ego Zap'? That was a beauty wasn't it? You do have it, I
hope? If not, I'll be glad to furnish you with a copy of it. (in fact, I
think, that will be one of the many 'RAREWARES', I'll put on the 1WSW WEB
Page).
Keep checking thr 1WSW Home Page. It's just going to (grow and grow and grow),
amazing all that venture into it, as time progresses.
Looking forward to hearing from you, I remain:
Sincerely,
Dr. Tom
P.S. Yes I am a real Ph.D., in the fields of; Magnetobiology, Psychoacoustics,
Audio and Sound Neurology. And, I did not get my doctrates from ITT! I have
worked long and hard, for over 13 years, to obtain them from the University of
Puerto Rico and as Director for the Biomagnetics Research Center there.

Charles/Tom,
That was all very interesting. If it's all indeed true, why don't you post
something simular like that to comp.sys.apple2? You've nothing to lose,
and maybe
you could gain back respect that you've lost. Just be truthful (which it sounds
like you were doing), keep the caps-lock off, and don't do any name calling.

Best guess? I'd say Joe Kohn. Or maybe he and Bill Heineman together. I know Joe
and BurgerBill aren't perfect, I've heard plenty of stories.
What you mention about Ian Schmidt and Richard Wifall doesn't surprise me. I got
turned off quickly by their games in IRC (insulting everything and everyone left
and right) and bashing of Jawaid Bazyar.
I'm still not sure what to think of your VAMP 3-D music and all else, but it was
nice to hear your side of the story as well.
ps - Do you have any more unreleased software? Like newer versions of
MIDIConvert v0.7 (from Japan)? Or more FTA stuff? Oh, or have any more
UniDisk 3.5s you want
to give away? :-)

Mitch:
Per your suggestion, I will post the entire context of all our current emails
combined. That should liven things up a bit, within the A2 world on Usenet.
I've always been told to 'Speak the truth and the truth shall set you free'. It
really doesn't matter to me, if they beleive I'm telling the truth or not.
So I'll apply that philosophy and see what the people within the A2 world that
visit Usenet have to say about it all.
Most all of them have already been advised per email: (that I'm nothing but, a
thief, liar and sector-editor) from the very same (The individual) whom
I've been
ordered (by the San Rafael, CA. police) never to mention or publicly post his
name, concerning anything to do with me again, or he would (place a restraining
order - by court order against me). I don't lie, when I post anything to Usenet
nor when I send email to anybody. So, that should tell you why he wanted
to 'HUSH ME UP', from stating any more facts about him publicly! He's got
a $25,000 business at stake and I've got nothing to lose!
You are absolutely correct "What do I have to lose?" - NOTHING! THAT'S WHAT.
Your guess was very good - BTW!
Concerning my VAMPS - think whatever you like. That's one of the many advantages
of being "young, free and Canadian or American".
Please be advised. I prefer using my middle name 'Tom', rather than my first
'Charles'. When I was growing up my parents called me Tom, (I didn't even
know my first name was Charles, until I got a copy of my birth
certificate, when I went into the Air Force, at age 17. My friends call me
Tom also!
Best Wishes,
Tom

Note of Reply - before departure Cc: Bcc: X-Attachments:
Dear Mitch:
I don't have any more recent versions of MIDI Converter, nor do I have anything,
other than the src. codes for Photonix II, from the FTA, that I haven't already
released. (If you really want some rare (formally unreleased) jewels with their
src. codes, form the; FTA, ASC and SSS), you should go to GRIND, within the 1WSW
folder, and download all of the GIFT.SHK files!
I transfered/gave (for free), the PHX II program (v2.50-incomplete) with
src. codes to Prince Slime (Ian Brumby). (sent them to Jim (Twilight II)
Mericondo?, also via email/transfer, well over 2 years back, but he never
did anything with them!
John of Big Red, did a lic./contract with Olivier, for $200, to have exclusive
rights to sell copies of PHX II v2.40, (and he never even had the src. codes for
it or the serial numbering utility), until I furnished him with a copy of them,
in 1993. He never did anything with it either! The lic. expired recently, thus,
Ian Brumby wanted to do it, so I gave it all to him.
It may well be included in his pending update and release of: Instant Access
v3.0(x-?). At least he said he was thinking of doing such, although, I've not
talked with him for many, many months, now. So, I don't know the status of IA
v3.0, or a release date for it. The IA v3.0 beta, that he sent me, is a vast
upgraded/improvement from the v2.3 release!
Concerning Photonix II, he's (most likely) almost finished with the
rewrite of it as a GS/OS desktop application program, compatible with
GS/OS v6.01 and/or (v6.02 - due out from the BD fellows, our 1WSW
associates and friends). Thus, until I've had a chance to talk to Ian
Brumby - per voice tel. to him in Australia, I don't think I should make
the PHX II src. codes public, with their release. (That is all explained
in great detail, in my recent release GSTidBits, also available within the
GRIND/1WSW folder.
No, I don't have any more FREE Unidisk drives to give out. That was the only one
I had. I gave it to a fellow (I forget his name), that lived in my area and said
he desperately needed it to make his Apple II? system useful. He came by
my house and picked it up.
I do things like that, (from time-to-time), if the person, is really in need of
something & I have it laying around, doing nothing with it or can assist with
somebody's sincere needs.
I'm helping my good friend: Jim (U4ia) Young out with some problems, he's having
also, with introductions to a few audio professional engineers and recording
agents, here in CA, (friends of mine), to demo his first audio tape, for some
commercial recording contracts. Jim has authorized me to remaster as (VAMPS 3D -
enhanced) NTGS music modules, his entire collection of MODfiles, to release them
as FREEWARES, for the GS world.
I hope to have that project finished by mid-Sept.- along with the FREEWARE
release of an Apple IIe/IIc/IIc+ GUI OS, that's ProDOS 8 compatible, or at the
least, an emulation that is compatible with it. (No, it won't be called
FreeOS, I assure you). I really got the Hell ragged out of me on Usenet
and the NET,
concerning FreeOS. Although it's still in circulation, used by many others and
they don't get ragged for doing it!
(The FreeOS, with the FreeOS cache, was a P8/Diversi-cache) rewrite/hack,used by
me (with Apple Computer's and Bill Basham's premission, knowledge and consent) -
(from somebody elses creative mind, not mine). They gave it to me to use, as it
was more efficient and faster at loading the VAMPS/NTV music modules, without
using memory mgr. and its taking advantage of the GS virtual memory op-code
abilities, much like Tim Meekins new program imageQuant, does, with GS/OS.
Knowing how you feel about my VAMPS, I doubt that this information will interest
you, at all! But, like I said before, everybody is certainly entitled to their
own opinion of things, and I do respect that!
I will be posting to Usenet, (today) the information (as per your suggestions),
with the entire contents of our email replies, of recent, including this one.
Before I do so, please let me know if you have any objections, to any of the
contents from your emails between you & I - going public, to the Usenet A2 area!
I'll be leaving tomorrow for the next ten days or so, working on a reggae tour,
as the sound tech. advisor. I'll make the posting before I leave on the tour.
If you have any objections, please contact me before 5 PM, PST, today - 7/31/95,
by either; email or voice tel. call (collect). I'll also be removing the 1WSW
Home Page, to substitute it, with a notice of major construction in progress.
When it's back up, on Aug. 16th, be sure to check it out again, with all the new
additions.
Sincerely,
Tom
