My statement following the question in my original post was based on the
fact that, if I leave my original II on for about five hours, the display
screws up. The Applesoft BASIC prompt flashes erratically at the top of the
screen when I type "HOME." When I use a diagnostics program to get a
totally white screen, many areas of the white square are distorted terribly.
It was my error in thinking that this was characteristic of early Apple II's.
