That is the serial port that a modem is most often connected to.
UART, that is a PC term, isn't it? Nevertheless, the GS's serial port is
quite adequate to run a modem.

Correct, and much faster ones as well.
The most common cable suppliers are Quality Computers (800) 777-3642, or

Beware of cables from Cables America, Jameco etc... these cables are
incorrectly wired. You've been warned.
