Re: Modems w/ BBS
Hiya Lee!
I SysOp Appleton II, a ProLine BBS run by the Apple-Dayton USers
Group (513-296-1481). We've been running a USR Sportster (a MacInFax package
from CompUSA) for several months without a hitch. This little 14.4 just humms
along. The cable that came with it wasn't set up for a host system (the DCD
line wasn't hooked up) so we bought a hardware handshaking cable from Alltech
which just needed a jumper installed. I also built a cable from a mini DIN-8
straight-thru cable and a DB-25 connector/hood from Radio Shack that I used
on another ProLine BBS for a while.
Have fun!
John
P.S. You might want to look at Pro-Coach, it looks like they found an elegant
way around ProLine's single partition library limit. I'll be looking at that
myself as we're getting close to filling our first partition.
