How can you tell what's the 'best system'? I have plenty of peripherals,
but does that make yours or mine better? It does what I want... (mind
you I can't use all the cards at once, but they're around...

I have a ROM 3 also

I haven't found a need for this...

Mine is a Sound Meister, and I put it into my stereo...

Ditto..

I don't find a need for the 5.25", but I have a ROM1 with one attached,
just in case. I also put 2 of the beasties with my //e...

Same here...

> Kurta 18" digitizing tablet with cordless pen and mouse
I don't have these, but then I probably don't need them...
> VisionaryGS digitizer card (upgraded to run ALLISON)
Ditto, but also a ComputerEyes 2, and a ComputerEyesGS (for comparison
sake...)
> RamFast SCSI D 1.0 Mb
Makes life so much more fun than that HS SCSI thingy, doesn't it (I
shifted the HS SCSI to the ROM 1 when I went to the RamFAST)
> NCS Pro 340 Mb External HD
Hmmm... Mine's only 170Mb, but I have a 270M removable, and a floptical
that I use with the ROM 3, so storage is not really an issue...
> Apple Video Overlay Card
Yup, a PAL VOC...
> Apple CD300 external CD drive with Golden Orchard and AUGE CDs
I had a CD150, but moved onto an NEC double speed CD ROM. I also have the
GEM, and Golden master CD's, as well as many Developer CD's and the Apple
CD ROM sample for //e & GS. I also (not sure why, but...) have many of
the DiskPassage CD's to run with DiskQuest...
> ZipGSX 14/64k
Sorry, only a 10/64... I haven't been bothered doing the u/g lately. I
changed an old 8/16 to a 10/32 for the ROM 1 (boy 8/16 is slow...) but I
haven't bother with further u/g just yet.

7 Mb = 8.125Mb system.
> IOMEGA Zip drive plus 5x100 Mb storage cartridges
I have half a dozen 270 Mb cartridges for my removable, and a number of
105's as well as the usual quota of flopticals. Does that count?
> HP DeskJet 550C plus IW2 (with A/B switchbox)
StyleWriter, IW2, Deskjet 540C and a colour stylus (epson) which take
their turn on the Serial Port/Parallel card...

Still waiting for them to ship mine (I ordered in November, would you
believe...)
> 14,400 bps fax/data modem
Pretty standard these days. The 28.8 is still a little overpriced around
here.
You haven't mentioned an Apple MIDI interface (I also have a passport MIDI
card, but since it doesn't generate interrupts, it doesn't get used much)
and a host of MIDI devices to play through the GS. Also I have A PC
Transporter & Transdrive (5.25) with Maths Co Pro (I tried to buy one of
those FPE's, but they were too hard to come by).
So. I have a system which does what I want. Big deal...
Then there's software...
cheers
