That's one of the ROM 03 good things - the battery is fully user-
replaceable.

1) Battery cover.

The top plastic part has two notches in the bottom of the legs. I find
it easy to put small flat screwdriver vertically in each groove on
front and back of the cover and gently release the notches. If you
touch the front and back end of the cover, the grooves are there
centered, about 5mm wide. After you release the notches, you just lift
the top cover up.

2) Battery terminals.

Yes, the battery is pretty standard. The positive terminal's tip faces
to the back (IIgs connectors), the negative terminal faces front.

3) Battery type.

It's a 1/2 AA lithium 3.6V battery. I've seen original IIgs assembled
with Tadiran batteries, but what I could find easy around me was from
French brand Saft.
