While true, it's also true that the card makes use of the Mac's 3.5"
drive(s), so unless you want low-level access, or need to run a copy
protected title (how many 3.5" releases for a *IIe* were copy protected, I
wonder), I'm not sure that you'd need it. For plain old block access
(including modified DOS 3.3's, etc), the host Mac's floppy drive works fine.
As for making a custom cable, you could do it, but I'm not sure where one
finds a DA-26HD connector or whatever it is, and soldering three-row
connectors is not my idea of a great time. I do see complete kits with the
cable on eBay with some regularity for not that much money.
