Well it is true that you can fake a SLIP/PPP connection in order to browse
the web ( the Amiga has one, Compuserve has one in a sense but they are
in essence hiding their driver and the PC has several that are similar to
one on the Amiga- you need to have similar software running on your Unix
host and that simply won't happen for most commercial Internet providers).
In short, a TCP/IP driver for the GS is absolutely essential as is support
for the new graphics' format free of GIF. Here the 2cond Sight board and the
ZipGS play important roles. In my opinion there's no point in bothering with
the GS without the hope of TCP/IP and browsing capability. I used to feel
that Appletalk was important, but it is quickly becoming a non-issue for the
world community.
