Thoughts about Second Sight

There is one major aspect to the Second Sight board which seems to be
overlooked much of the time.
It will allow use of an NON-DEDICATED monitor with the GS. Currently I am
using a monochrome monitor with my GS simply because I am not willing to give
the money or space (an even more limited resource) to a monitor which can be
used with only one machine. The monochrome screen is shared with several other
Apple computers.
The ability to use the GS with a standard VGA monitor, which can be had much
more easily and more cheaply than a GS-compatible RGB monitor is, to me, a
major advantage to the new card. My multiscan SVGA monitor is already serving
two PCs, and would be happy to accomodate the GS and possibly a Mac as well.
Even if there is no improvement over the standard GS screen resolution with
non-Second Sight specific software, I should have a better display than I have
now, without the need of another monitor.
I use my GS only a small part of the time, as my //e is faster and better
configured for AppleWorks, which comprises 90% of my Apple computing time.
Thus far I have found no compelling 16-bit software. Perhaps with the ability
to see some of the graphics the GS is reputed to handle, I'll find it more
useful overall.
Just another side of a most welcome new product.
