Re: Genie, Virii, and Beagle Bros. (was Re: Genie...is it worth it?)

Jeesh, I feel kinda stupid being one of the folks footing the bill
on GEnie so someone can suggest ripping off what others have spent
a considerable amount of time and money building. I have accounts
both on GEnie and CIS and I enjoy both of them. The Apple II
community on both services are a nice bunch of folks. It's kinda sad
(and maybe fortunate) that those that come to take advantage of
the system never discover there are people on these services too.
If all you want are files, buy a CD-150 and the GO CD-ROM. If you
want files both now and in the future, _and_ meet a lot of nice folks
I'd highly recomend a GEnie account. True, you can get some files
off of comp.binaries.apple2 assuming you get a clean transmission
and don't mind the bother, but I can get the same files off of
GEnie using ZModem and I know they'll come down clean. I do wish
they'd get high speed access, but then again it doesn;t mean much
in a conference and I didn't get a high speed modem until a few
weeks ago.
