Computer Eyes & SS
Here's food for thought...
A while back I looked at several different image digitizers for the Apple
IIGS including Computer Eyes, Vision Plus Enhanced, and the old Thunder
Scanner. One thing that caught my attention about Computer Eyes is it offers
an option to save the data in a special 6-bit color format (ie., the red,
green, and blue intensity data stored with 64 levels of intensity) even
though the GS had no way of displaying the data until now. The potential to
do some really nice color work with Computer Eyes and Second Sight is
certainly interesting. Of course, someone has to write the software to do it
:) I'll be taking a look at it as soon as my SS arrives (we've got two on
order from QC). We also have a VPE card on order, but goodness knows if we'll
ever see it. I had a chance to work with one for a few weeks (thanks John!)
and it also has a special color storage format, though it's in a 4 bit (16
level) format. Still, could be interesting.
Have fun!
John
