Good god, they've finally lowered their rates to something reasonable! GEnie
is known for its phonomeonal support for the Apple ][ -- It was excellent 4
years ago when I was a member. In fact, it used to be one of the "Big 3"
online services back in the 80's because of their better rates. Of course,
there used to be a lot larger of a margin between first and second place in
the online services war.
The reason why AOL got so popular was lower rates. GEnie took a long time to
follow suit on online rates, even though their online rates were what made
them popular in the 1980's. The Apple ][ support is good, but it isn't worth
paying $6/hr at 2400 baud for.
Of course, this is nothing like the flat-rate service offered by Internet
service providers. But at least it's much better than current long-distance
rates.
| GEnie also has online readers for Apple IIs which can do wonders for cutting
| your monthly bill.
This is really nice. I never really used any of 'em because I never had a
"modern" Apple ][-type computer until recently. Of course, I also have a Mac
now too, which I use more than the Apple ][. Is there any off-line software
for the Macs?
