To simplify things, I think you should be able to write
an Apple III disk image on an Apple II and boot it on
the III.

Here is yet another example of why newbies fade away.
Some people have to complicate things to the point
that the newbies feel that Apple products are just
too hard to use.

Try writing a III image on the II and let me know if
it works, please.  ;-)
