I've been having a lot of problems with my system lately too. I've got a
Rev C ramfast, zip 8/32, Octoram w/ 4 megs, Audio Animator, and a Grappler+
in a ROM 3 GS. My problems range from 'freezes' to bizzare crashes, to
plain strangeness (garbage characters in text, etc) As with you, the system
works fine from floppies, and the problem goes away if I let it "cool down"
for a while. I leave the case on, and a conserver on top. One thing I have
recently started suspecting is my power supply. It may be that it just can't
handle all the cards I've got shoved in there. If you take a card out,
the heat & power drain are diminished, so everything works fine.
Is this a common problem with power users? My original power supply blew up
several years ago, so I'm currently using one from a ROM 1 GS. I notice it
says something like 'revision 2' on the front of it. Is there any
difference in ampage, etc? Should I just blow $70 on a heavy-duty power
supply? What about internal fans?
