It is my understanding that there is more than one version of the 
original Bouncin'Ferno game floating around. 

Look on your disk. Do you see a folder named "Incider.Contest"? If not, 
then I'd look around for another copy of it. The version of Bouncin'Ferno 
that has the Incider.Contest folder has no known problems running on 
anyone's IIGS.

Some background...

A few years ago, I got Bouncin'Ferno along with the source code. The disk 
I received came directly from the FTA. That disk, along with the source 
code, was used as the basis for a contest; that contest eventually 
yielded Bouncin'Ferno II.

Right around the same time, Bouncin'Ferno showed up on America Online. 
People who downloaded it had all sorts of problems with it. I uploaded 
the version I had, and asked the AOL staff to delete the one that 
everyone had problems with. No more complaints and no more problems.
