tranferring software MSDOS-Apple II-how?

I'm using an Atari STe connected up to the net now, but have an old (and
still going strong!) Apple II+ computer as well.
I'd like to check out some of the ftp sites that have Apple II stuff,
but how should I deal with the transferring of the software once I've
downloaded it?

My STe uses 3.5" disks using the MSDOS format, but my II+ has 5.25" disks
of course. I could copy the software over to 5.25" disks using a PC of
some sort, but would that help?
Do I need to tranfer it via the RS232 interface from my Atari to my Apple?
