This past weekend I came into posession of my first "//e-class" system,
a Laser 128 (not EX, so far as I know). Having dabbled previously only with
the ][+ and compatibles, I find myself with a few questions:
General
-------
What am I really looking at?
Where does it fit in relative to a genuine Apple?
How do I use the second 64K?
Any major bugs/problems I should be aware of?
Ports
-----
(Probably a FAQ) Anybody have a pinout for the serial and parallel ports?
Do serial ports 1&2 map to slots 1&2, respectively?
If so, should I assume that switching the "Serial/Parallel" switch
to "Parallel" will disable port 1?
What are my drive options on the floppy port?
Expansion/Upgrades
------------------
I notice the slot on the side and a reference to an "expansion box". Was
this commonly available? How was it set up? (I noticed the switches for
Interal and external for slots 5 and 7.)
What sort of general expansion can be done on a laser 128?
I seem to recall some discussion of replacing the 65C02 with a 658C02
(65C802 ?)... any advantages?
Thanks in advance for any pointers... <<<John>>>
