A friend of mine had his IIgs SCSI hard drive data structure in a state
where he couldn't create any new files, so he brought his 20 meg drive
over, plugged it into my Mac IIvx's SCSI chain, and I mounted it using FWB
Hard Disk Toolkit (commercial driver package). Mounted just like a Mac
drive. Copied his files off, selected Erase Disk from the Special menu,
selected Apple II format from the pop-up menu, then copied his files back
and viola! his drive was fixed.
So yes, there is way.
