New modem cable

Ok, now what...  I just got my completely correctly wired hardware 
handshaking cable from the Morgan Davis Group, and I still can't get 
Spectrum to use my assigned system beep, instead of the stupid GS boink.  
I have hardware handshaking enabled, "DTC is valid" enabled, and Xon/Xoff 
enabled.  I'm using a SupraFax 14.4.  Spectrum 1.0 had no problem with 
the beep.  Spectrum 2.0 refuses to use it.  WHAT'S GOING ON?!?!
