apple2 disk drive problem help!!

I recently sold my old Apple ][e to a family friend of ours. However, the 
disk drive (original 5.25) won't boot proplerly. When you turn on the 
computer, the drive just spins, but nothing happens. It used to 
occasionally do this when I had it. I just hit ctrl-open apple-reset a 
bunch of times, and the drive would kick in. That doesn't work anymore. 

Is there a way I can fix this or do I have to find a replacement drive? 
Where are apple ][e drives available?
