I've got a zip drive (for my Mac) and have read a lot of technical stuff
on it. You can actually call up IOMEGA and have them fax you info on it.

FYI - According to MacWeek, the zip drive uses a winchester mechanism. It
is not Magneto Optical. It's got an access time of 28ms (which is right
about the speed of a MO drive - but about $600 cheaper).
