That just talks about how Canadians use their "bank" cards more than any other country. There is no mention of Visa or MasterCard in that section at all.
You may wish to recheck with your bank on this. As I recall, the bank cards weren't connected with VISA or MASTERCARD back when I signed onto eBay either. At least mine was just an ATM, um, when was that, 2002? ;-)
My bank could issue me a Visa credit card but they do not offer a Visa debit card that I know of. It might be changing as I recently switched my debit card to a SCENE debit card so that I get SCENE points with every purchase I make using my debit card. SCENE points can then be redeemed at certain cinemas for free tickets or certain combos at the snack bar. I've seen one free movie with it so far and am getting close to having enough points to go see two more. :)
