Double Ack! I'm typing this from work and my ProLine manual's at home
so forgive me if this doesn;t make sense (my biological RAM isn't
what it used to be), but I think some software that doesn't use
DCD can use DTR for carrier detection. When I first set up our user
group's ProLine BBS it work fine unless someone logged off by just
hanging up. I fixed this by going with a DCD cable. Soooo, it's
possible for a host to detect and respond to an incoming call w/o
the DCD line, but it may not handle a dropped carrier correctly.
